On a glorious, sunny, but cold day your trusty scribe began with a mistake ( Yes, I know that it is difficult to believe that I make errors) In the first minute a try was scored and I began to make notes about poor tackling BUT I then ascertained that the team playing in Black & Amber was Sully and The North was in a changed strip). Therefore, the first try arose from brilliant quick passing and a good finish by Jordan!
Unfortunately, whilst we were still celebrating they struck back and scored — That is how this game was played, truly end to end stuff with no quarter asked or given — 7-7 then 7-14 then 12 – 14 then 12 – 17 then 12 – 22 then 19 – 22.
Half time and we were ahead by a slender 3 points from an excellent penalty from Robbie.
They came out fighting in the second half with a score that saw us behind for the first time ( 26 – 22 ) But this was their Last Hurrah — Another penalty put us within a point and two further tries crushed any resistance.
HIGHLIGHTS :- A 40 metre break through the middle by Gareth / a typical ‘poacher’s try’ by Dafydd / excellent interception score by Gaggsy. The coach disputed this but I report what I see- (and it sounds better !! ) Good 14 points from Robbie.
Sully Sports 26-39 Llandaff North 2nds.
Scorers :- Tries Jordan / Gareth / Dafydd / Gaggsy / Bolden — Conv. Robbie (4) — Penalty Robbie (2)
WELL PLAYED LADS You deserved to win this game — ONWARD to the next round !!
