On a bright & sunny (but COLD) morning, on a pitch that resembled a marsh, both teams played Rugby
to the best of their abilities with end to end play. Poor tackling allowed them to score under the posts. The play continued in a similar vein with no quarter asked or given although our Pack was weakened when Tito had to leave the field with injury.
Your intrepid scribe began to write at half = time we were down 7 – nil but I had to delete my notes as play continued past 35 mins. (I added 5 mins. for the injury to Tito) and at 40 mins (the match lasted 42 mins) with our pressing hard close to their line, a silly mistake saw a kick & Chase which they won. Down 14 – 0
I don’t know if I have said this before but, THIS TEAM DOES NOT GIVE IN!
Soon after the re-start Tito bravely returned to the play and our Pack resumed their ascendancy. From a 10 yard line-out the Pack faught like demons with Tito charging through their defence and despite being knocked down he, somehow managed to twist his body and reach out to score! Evan followed this with an excellent conversion.
With all of the possession we had and good passing, we lacked a player to run straight orpu nch through their defence. Unfortunately that player was standing on the sidelines as he was due to play for Cardiff the next day. If we had had the services of “whatsisname” we would have won this match.– No Problem !!
Highlights : – No stand out player but the overall team performance, under dire conditions, was excellent.
