THE SAGA of “THE MAGNIFICIENT TWELVE ” (plus one from LM)
Firstly, our sincere thanks to Llantwit Major for the loan of a player and agreeing to play ” 13 a-side ” Your intrepid, and “crippled” reporter asks :- WHERE was the rest of our SQUA D ??? Surely if I, in my condition can get there –so can you !!! Was it too wet for you ???)
AS TO THE MATCH — EXCELLENT !! — EXCITING !! — EXHILIRATING !!!
The game began with our playing against all of the elements !! Uphill. /. Wind. /. Sun (a little ) / the odd shower of rain, and , within 10 minutes we were 8 – 0 down through a try and penalty.
Virtually the whole of the first half was played in our half of the field and the boys were under constant pressure from the Llantwit players charging at them !! Our defence was strong but cracked twice to allow two further tries —Down 20 – 0
After soaking-up all of this pressure we charged up field and the Pack won good ball and Cavan with two players hanging on to him, dived over the line . This was followed by an amazing covert ion by Callum , from, virtually the touch line AND into a strong wind . Score now 20 -7
All of this good work was cancelled out by sloppy tackling allowing them to score again !!!
Half – time and ” down ” 25 – 7
Have by readers heard that old adage , “A game of two halves” ?? It was true of this game.!!
Now the elements were in our favour and Jack (C) gathered a loose ball and proceeded with his usual dash for the line to score !! Callum converted . Score. 25 – 14
This was a “hard fought game ” but fair by neither team giving an inch !! Our Pack continued to compete for every loose ball and spent most of this half in Llantwit’s side of the pitch.
with one foray into their 22 we saw Jay (B) kick the ball “over the top” , — chase through the gap, collect the ball and score a brilliant individual try. The conversion was Callum’s ONLY failure of the afternoon
Score :- 28 pts. To 29 pts.
