Llanrumney 2nds. v Llandaff North 20.12.14

By Alan John

During the first 30 minutes of this match possession was, say, 50/50, but it must be admitted, that Llanrumney had by far the larger amount of the territory with our being pushed back into our 22 on many occasions . Our cause was not helped by a winter sun that made intermittent appearances and a wayward breeze that combined to make catching their high kicks rather difficult. However, our defence was excellent and repulsed wave after wave of attacks, but unfortunately we cracked and allowed them to score. A few minutes later they scored again! Half time 12 – 0. BUT this team does NOT give in !!

Our Pack were by far the stronger ( Scrum & Line-out ) and their pressure finally paid off when Gaggsy dived over. Soon after a tap-penalty followed by a run and a shimmy saw a good individual try by Jordan. Score level at 12-12. Later our supporters expressed their disapproval of a try that was awarded after what appeared to be a knock on / lost ball. The same supporters sounded their approval when the conversion failed . BUT, have I said this before? This team does NOT give in, and close to the end, the Pack claimed a push-over try by Sheooie with Robbie’s conversion winning the match.
