The Llandaff North U8 Hornets welcomed Clwb Rugbi to a sunny Hailey Park on Sunday 28th September.
Playing for the U8’s were Tom Woods, Freddie Blackmore, Seren Lockwood, Owen Lockwood, Elliott Barry, Bella Hindle, Sophie Southgate, Halle Pesticcio, Darragh Healy, Ed Maguire and Niall Moore.
Game 1 – Darragh Healy was captain for this game and coped well although the team had decided to follow their coaches’ lead and opted for a slow start this morning! Tom continued his point scoring form crossing the line once. Freddie stepped up a gear try wise this week and scored another two tries for the Hornets. Unfortunately, despite some excellent defensive work especially from Owen and Bella, Clwb had put their try scoring boots on for the first game and the end score stood at Hornets 3 – Clwb Rugbi 6.
Game 2 – Bella Hindle took over captaincy for the second game and got the Hornets fired up. Some excellent running by Sophie and Niall saw important ground being made and great supportive play by Tom saw him build on his try scoring total by crossing the line no less than three times. Having remembered his boots this week Ed also decided to join the party and got his name on the score board. Determined not to be outshone by the boys Seren ‘rapid’ Lockwood added another two tries to the Hornets total. The defensive game also stepped up in the second game and some great tagging was shown by Elliott, Owen, Bella and Halle. End result Hornets 6 – Clwb Rugbi 4.
Player of the Day was awarded to Freddie Blackmore.
Big thank you to all the support that was shown by friends and family.
