With no match arranged on Easter Sunday what were the Llandaff North Hornets to do over the Easter break?
Well Hornets coach and club captain Dominic Scoble was leading the North’s 1st team out against Tonyrefail on Saturday 19th April, and the Hornets were keen to see if he too could run forward, hold the ball in both hands and pass backwards to his teammates in a match situation. So some of the Hornets decided to come down and support their club. Fellow coach Hywel James was on the touch line having been ruled out of the rest of the season with a broken nose, so the Hornets thought they would join him. Once we had them down at the club we kitted the Hornets out in their shirts and gave them some jobs to do . . . . . and they all did fantastically! No ball was kicked too far for these players to retrieve and no Llandaff North senior player went without water during this match. In fact we all felt it was the increased levels of hydration that lead the senior team to win 22 – 16!
The Hornets were also treated to a special training session on Wednesday 23rd April, with Welsh prop Scott Andrews joining in an exciting game of bull-dogs at the end. After the photos and the autographs were done our Hornets decided to put Scott through his paces and he soon found out that taking a tag off a Llandaff North Hornet is much harder than expected. Overall great fun was had by all.
