Llandaff North 2nds v Old Penarthians

By Alan John
MousematOn a bitterly cold and windy afternoon the North began with a bang when Matthew Tout dived over to score in the first minute. Unfortunately we allowed Old Penarthians to attack strongly and their heavier Pack scored from a 5 metre scrum.

We struck back immediately through Jamie and a good conversion by Rooney. This was followed by three good tries by Steve and Dubbs (His second from a 10 metre line sprint)

Half time and ahead 27 – 7

The second half began, as the first, with Dave diving over the line, but again, we allowed them to score!

Following a kick and chase Matthew (D) scored the first of his tries followed by an excellent conversion. Then we experienced extreme pressure in the Pack and gave away a Penalty Try. To rub salt into the wound Old Pen pens also scored an interception try!

The North had the final word with Matthew (D) scoring and converting again.

Final Score: Llandaff North 2nds 46-28 Old Penarthians
Scorers :- Dubbs 2 / Matthew (D) 2 / Matthew (T) / Jamie / Steve / Dave / Conv. Matthew (D) 2 / Rooney

It must be said that their Goal-kicker was of the highest order as he converted all four tries under difficult conditions. (He looked a little like Leigh Halfpenny?)
