Llandaff North 2nds v Old Penarthians 2nds 28.03.2015

By Alan John

On an overcast day, we played the first half with a very strong wind at our backs and whilst we had the majority of the possession we could not break through their strong defence. We then won a penalty but had a player sent to the sin – bin for retaliation (Stay cool lads !!).  Whilst down to 14 men we scored twice! A tap-penalty saw Ritchie dive over the line– converted by Mark and then a few minutes later from a scrum on their 22 Jack picked up the ball and ran through to score.

Later Jamie scored a great individual try by charging-down their kick and running for the line. Converted by Mark. This was followed by our kick ahead being fumbled with Stoker collecting the ball and charging over.

Half Time and we were ahead 24 – 0

Now we were facing the wind and when they began kicking the ball the supporters were a little apprehensive. But THIS TEAM is full of fighting spirit and Mark collected a loose ball followed by a good pass to Adam to score. The grey mist came down again with another player sent to the sin-bin (STAY COOL LADS!)

Our defence had been strong against the wind bit we finally cracked allowing them to score a try,

As I have said many times THIS TEAM DOES NOT GIVE IN , Jamie collected a loose ball and ran 30 metres, dodging various attempts to tackle him, to score, converted by Rooney The final act of the game was a rampaging run by Stoker to score.

Final Score :- Llandaff North 2nds 41-5 Old Penarthians 2nds.

Scorers :- Tries : Jamie (2) / Stoker (2) / Ritchie / Jack / Adam / Conv. : Mark (2) / Rooney

WELL PLAYED LADS !!!! You thoroughly deserved this excellent win “”
