Llandaff North RSSC is a family orientated club that is open to all. Both boys and girls play in the minis section of the club and our women’s team is very successful; recently winning the Premier League Grand Final.
Llandaff North RSSC, working in conjunction with Cardiff YMCA Housing Association, have pledged to support the Elimination of Violence against Women by wearing white ribbons. The White Ribbon Campaign is the largest effort in the world of men working to end men’s violence against women. Wearing a white ribbon is a personal pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women. White ribbons and white ribbon cakes will be available to buy from the club house on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd November also the 1st team will be posing for a photo wearing white ribbons to demonstrate their support. All monies raised will be donated to charities in Cardiff working with women who have experienced violence to rebuild their lives.
Monday 25th November is the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women because, amazingly, even in the 21st century up to 70% of women experience some form of violence just as a result of them being a woman. The most common form of violence experienced by women globally is domestic violence; with women beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused. It is estimated that, worldwide, one in five women will become a victim of rape or attempted rape in her lifetime. Women aged 15-44 are more at risk from rape and domestic violence than from cancer, car accidents, war and malaria, according to World Bank data.
Sadly the list of shocking facts and figures could go on which is why the UN have this international day to help raise awareness and end violence against women.
Llandaff North RSSC is truly committed to this cause and recognises that violence against women is a consequence of discrimination and of persisting inequalities, and is going to show their support to put an end to it. Please show support and ware your White Ribbon with Pride.
