Due to my commitment to the Youth team, (and a few visits to USA) I have not attended many matches played by the 2nds but, what have I been missing!?
The first half was a typical game between these two clubs with end to end play and no quarter asked or given! It was amazing to reach half-time with the score at Nil – Nil, this was probably due to the wind, which was not strong but very finicky with strong gusts arriving at inopportune moments and in the opposite direction! ( see following notes )
The second half stated with a bang! From the Drop-out an awkward bounce evaded our players and fell straight into the welcoming arms of a Llanishen player who dodged one tackle but passed to a team mate to dive over the line. 5 – 0
We replied in kind when from the drop-out our players won the loose ball and Mikey following-up collected a pass and made a trademark 50 metre weaving run at 100 miles per hour to score. He then converted his try.

We continued to press hard in their half and when a kick out of defence did not find touch Jack put in an intelligent “kick ahead”
and followed up with a 60 metre run to score far out. 5 – 12
When they took the Drop-out the ball went back over their heads ( see note at end of first half ) in the confusion, we won the loose
ball and Mike (W) ran 30 metre to score 5 – 17
At one of their attacks we fell into the trap of “relaxing” and, at a 5 metre tap-penalty they dived over our line. 10 – 17
Llanishen then called for passive scrums which was probably due to the fact that our Pack was superior in line-out too but it did not improve their situation as a good pass found Mikey who spurted through the centre of their defence to score underthe posts.
He then converted the try. 10 – 24
Relaxing again a missed tackle let them in for another try 15 – 24
But we had the last word when a panicky pass was collected by Craig to run 30 metres to score 15 – 31
WELL PLAYED LADS !!!! You thoroughly deserved this win!
