This was a Titanic struggle between two very good teams. As we only had 13 players the two lads from Tylorstown
played as though they had been with us for years. The cold wind resulted in a lot of dropped passes, which, occurred
more with their Back line rather than ours. Their Pack was much heavier than ours but our lads never conceded an inch.
Your trusty scribe must admit to being late and missed our first try scored by (why did I ask ??) Josh.. Our second try was
the best of the match with Jay (B) worrying” their scrum – half on their put-in = winning the loose ball and with a long pass to
Evan who effected a quick and clever reverse pass to Sean who evaded at least 3 tackles in running 30 metres to score.
They hit back with a converted try to ;leave us leading 7 – 12 at half-time,
The first 10 minutes of the second half saw us under intense pressure with our defence repulsing attack after attack until they
eventually broke through to score. 10 minutes later and a few missed tackles saw them score again. It must be said that their
goal-kicker was in excellent form despite the blustery conditions. Down 21 – 12
BUT, as I have said before This Team does NOT give in and we had the last word with pressure in their 22. The Pack won good
ball at the line out and Jay (B) ran to the blind side (every body expected open!) quick pass to Jay (S) to score. An american
pop group was the ” O-Jays ” but we beat them with the ” TWO-Jays ” ) !!!
The Coaches asked me to offer our thanks to Chris of Tylorstown for loaning us their players.
WELL PLAYED LADS The records may show this as a loss but you matched them in tries !!! KEEP ON ROCKING
