John Williams Passes Away

It was with sadness that the club was informed last week of the passing of John Williams at the age of 67yrs, a former player of Llandaff North RFC during the 70’s & 80’s, who died in hospital following a brief illness.

John will be remembered by the older stalwarts amongst us, as a very mild mannered person both on and off the pitch, who was slow to anger, which characteristics perhaps do not quite fit the profile of his position as Prop Forward. He was a very loyal player and would always turn up despite the strength of the opposition, whatever team he was chosen for, and of course the weather conditions.

During his playing career, he also took up coaching the mini rugby section and eventually became the Chairman of ‘the minis’, which section flourished under his stewardship.

Our thoughts and sympathy go out to Johns’ wife and family at this sad time.

The funeral will be held at the Wenallt Chapel at the Crematorium, on Friday 28th February at 2.45pm, and afterwards at the Conservative Club, Birchgrove.
